A photographer friend posted this on face book and I had to laugh because it is so true. In the digital age that we live in, so many people have access to computer programs that they like to play in and do a few tricks then PRESTO they are a "photographer". The next thing they do is create themselves a homemade logo and there you have it.
I am all for people wanting to become photographers but my advice is "be willing to learn". Take some real classes and invest into real equipment especially before you start charging.
There are so many good teachers out there who offer so many great classes. I am a member of the Texas School of Professional Photography and love it! I also have taken numerous classes and in the beginning took a course through the mail. Being a photographer is a never ending learning experience. I have come so far but have SO FAR to go. I am learning something new all the time :)
