What to look for when booking your photographer:
1) Someone who has owned their camera for more than a couple of years, there are so many people now who run out and buy a nice digital camera and are willing to do your wedding for 200.00........... BEWARE!!!
2) Someone who has a lot of wedding experience, it is one thing to photograph families but weddings are a total different story.
3) someone who can show you a nice portfolio of not just one wedding but several.
4) someone that you feel like you can communicate with, if they start talking about "me myself and I" then you might want to think twice, remember this is YOUR day!
5) Someone who can tell you that they have back-up equipment for back-up equipment. This is very important, a true professional will have lots of professional equipment!
6) Your photographer should have access to a professional lab, if they print their stuff here in town, I might question that. Photography is a priceless piece of art not just a picture to be printed from a cheap lab on cheap paper.
7)Your photographer should be able to shoot in RAW, this gives them access to manipulate images more freely.
8) Beware of pop up flashes, a true professional will not show up at your wedding with a pop up flash! I have actually seen this more than once, this is a definite sign of an amateur.
9) Note what the photographer is wearing during the wedding consultation, they should look and dress like a professional. You don't want your photographer showing up at your wedding looking like they just crawled out of bed!
10)Ask lots of questions! The knot magazine actually has a page that tell you the kind of questions that you should ask your photographer.
11) Your photographer should be able to give you a list of references for you to call.
Remember, you have this one chance to get your pictures right! When the cake is all eaten and the bouquet has been tossed and the honeymoon is over and you are sitting at home with your hubby on your 10Th wedding anniversary, you will be so glad that you hired a professional!
